  Winner Spotlight
1st week winner   M. Wade Davis

Congratulations to M. Wade Davis, our first weekly winner in the $500 Burger Deluxe Getaway drawing. Wade is an accomplished and very active pilot with a Commercial Certificate, an instrument rating, and 3,200 total hours logged. His 1967 Mooney M20-C Ranger (purchased in 1988) has taken him and his wife Elizabeth — also a pilot — on excursions across Mexico, the Bahamas, and Europe. He and his wife have also rented planes to travel throughout Hawaii and Tazmania. Before the Mooney, Wade owned a Grumman AA1A Trainer that Elizabeth used to earn her PPL. Wade has been a Lightspeed fan since the beginning and now enjoys his Zulus.

    Kurt Brickweg

Congratulations to Kurt Brickweg, a pilot and firefighter from St. Bernard, Ohio, our latest weekly winner of the $500 Burger Deluxe Getaway. A 31-year career firefighter and captain of the St. Bernard Fire Department, Kurt began flying in 1988. He earned his PPL in 1992 followed by an instrument rating in 1994. Overall, Kurt has acquired 1,230 hours, nearly all in his 1973 Piper PA28-180 Challenger, which has had many upgrades over the years. A loyal Lightspeed customer, Kurt owns the entire Zulu lineage — from the original to the Zulu PFX — and considers these to be by far his best upgrade.

  3rd week winner   Amber Lamb

Congratulations to Amber Lamb of Bakersfield, California for winning the weekly drawing for the Lightspeed Aviation $500 Burger Deluxe Getaway. Amber began her aviation adventures at age seven, flying with her father in his ultralight KR2, and more recently, an RV6a. Amber's extended flying family doesn't stop there, however. Her husband Russell is a private pilot, and Russell's parents own two Cessnas — a 172 and 182 — that they are happy to loan out to Amber and Russell for flights to the beach or longer trips to Arizona and Nevada.

    John Spangler

Congratulations to John Spangler, of Mosinee, Wisconsin. John developed a passion for flying after his wife gifted him with a certificate to the Pilot for a Day simulator experience. He found it so exhilarating that he began pursuing his PPL, which he earned in 2014. John now has 61 hours in a Cessna 150 and 7 hours in a 172. He is looking forward to flying with his wife for the first time.

    Richard Murphy

Congratulations to Richard Murphy, a licensed builder specializing in renovations, lives in Arlington, MA and summers on Cape Cod. He and his daughter are avid hockey fans and hockey players.

    Brian Neubauer

Congratulations to Brian Neubauer of Wray, Colorado. A tax accountant for the last 17 years, Brian bought his Cherokee 235 in June of 2013 — four months before earning his PPL. He recently earned his tailwheel endorsement and plans to start instrument training this spring. Over the last year between business and personal trips, Brian has flown nearly 13,000 nautical miles across eight states and has logged a total of 240 hours. Flying is a family affair for the Neubauers: Brian's wife and two sons are frequent and eager passengers and the purchase of the Cherokee has rekindled the passion for flying in Brian's father, a pilot who plans to get current after a 20-year break.

    Dorothy Spradley

Congratulations to Dorothy Spradley of Savannah, Georgia, our final winner in the $500 Burger Deluxe Getaway. Although not a pilot herself, Dorothy's life has been steeped in aviation. Two older cousins were WWII fighter pilots and their wartime stories instilled a love of flying in Dorothy at an early age. Counting several pilots as friends, today Dorothy enjoys taking to the sky every chance she gets. A painter and sculptor, Dorothy has both created art with aviation themes and created art for installation into multimillion dollar airplanes.
