Like its predecessor, the Zulu.2, our Zulu 3 ANR headset has so impressed the editors at Flying Magazine, one of the leading general aviation publications in the world, that they have awarded it their distinguished Editors’ Choice Award for 2017. They noted that “Lightspeed has introduced some exceptional headsets over the years, but nothing as good as the Zulu 3,” while citing the improved comfort, durability, and sound quality.
The Flying Magazine honor is the latest addition to a growing body of evidence proving Zulu 3 is the best choice in aviation headsets, including Aviation Consumer Editors’ Choice Award, the selection of the Zulu 3 as the “Most Exciting New Product of 2017” by Sporty’s customers, and scoring the highest rating in AeroKurier Magazine’s rigorous, independent testing of aviation headsets.

Lightspeed Aviation won the coveted 2016 Innovation of the Year Award from Flieger Magazine for our Tango wireless aviation headset. The announcement was made at the Flieger Magazine Awards ceremony at AERO Friedrichshafen 2016. Flieger Magazine is one of Europe’s leading aviation publications and winners of the Innovation of the Year award are chosen by its more than 18,000 readers. Tango was selected over entries from some of the top manufacturers in the aviation industry.
Our Tango wireless headset was awarded with the Red Dot Award for Product Design, an internationally recognized acknowledgment of superior design. The Red Dot jury, made up of 41 experts from around the world, selected Tango from a pool of 5,200 products and innovations from 57 nations using criteria such as degree of innovation, formal quality, and functionality. Tango’s user-centric, ergonomic design, superior signal reliability, and audio quality were instrumental in earning the coveted Red Dot Award.
Lightspeed Aviation has been named a 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honoree for our PFX ANR aviation headset. Products entered into this prestigious program are judged by an expert panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the consumer electronics trade media assembled to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories. PFX won in the In-Vehicle Accessories / Control / Navigation category.
The CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show and an organization that has been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and the unique/novel features present. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
The CES Innovation Awards are based upon descriptive materials submitted to the judges. CEA did not verify the accuracy of any submission or of any claims made and did not test the item to which the award was given.
The Lightspeed Aviation PFX ANR headset won the 2014 Flying Magazine Editors’ Choice Award. It’s the second time in a row that a new Lightspeed headset has won the prestigious honor (Zulu.2 received the award in 2011). PFX was one of only four products to earn the award and is in good company, the others being: the TBM 900 turboprop, the Embraer Legacy 500 jet, and Able Flight, a charitable organization.

Lightspeed Aviation ranked #1 in the latest Professional Pilot Headset Preference Survey. This survey, conducted once a year by Professional Pilot magazine, takes the pulse of a community of aviators that places especially rigorous and exacting demands on headsets.
The survey results, based on over 1,600 responses from operators randomly selected from Professional Pilot’s subscribers, focused on six key areas: clarity, comfort, technical advancement, durability, product support, and value for the price. Lightspeed was ranked best overall with high marks in all categories, especially in comfort and value. Detailed results are available in the December 2012 issue of Professional Pilot.
Lightspeed Aviation earned another top honor from a national aviation publication in 2012. Aviation Consumer magazine assembled a diverse group of active pilots, aircraft mechanics, and backseat passengers for a real-world test of budget-friendly ANR headsets and they unanimously voted Lightspeed Sierra the “hands-down favorite.”
Testers were given headsets from six manufacturers, sent up in a plane, and asked to review the products based on attributes such as comfort, styling and audio performance.
