Live from the grounds of AirVenture 2023 in Oshkosh, WI, we had the wonderful chance to talk with Dan Moore one day after he set the Guiness World Record for stopping in the most states in a 24-hour period – at 30! He started his journey in his Beechcraft Bonanza in Oklahoma at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 23rd and landed at AirVenture the next morning right after the gates opened, after flying across to the Atlantic states and back.
Dan is an FAA Designated Pilot examiner, A & P mechanic, aircraft broker, ASA Senior Aircraft Appraiser, and professional pilot with over 10,000 hours of experience and is no stranger to world records. In 2019 he set the Guinness World Record for the most airfields visited in 24 hours by a fixed-wing aircraft at 92. So, we were curious as to what motivated Dan to do these world record flights. We also wanted to know what he did to prepare himself to stay safe as a solo pilot accomplishing such a great feat.
Watch as Dan also shares his story about what his “ground crew” consisted of and how being able to park his Bonanza at the Arch on Day One of AirVenture 2023 was an especially moving moment for him because of his family ties.
