I bought Lightspeed Sierra after getting my private pilot certificate. I used it through xc time building, instrument training, commercial training, cfi/cfii and now using it as a cfi. I think this is the best budget friendly headset that has noise canceling and great quality. My headset needed a small repair recently and customer service was amazing through each step! thank you Lightspeed so much for providing great products and customer service. I recommend Lightspeed to all my students <3

Hello all! This headset are just perfect. Quality-Price related. I have about 170hours in this headsets with 0 problems. I fly in temperatures above 35 celcius. They got a lot of sweat in my training. They are exposed to extreme humidity (I live in Panamá). And with all of these, they look LIKE NEW. No scratches, no nothing. They over performed. I would recommend this headsets 100 times!! You will no regret.

I have a couple of them since 2012, they are great, very low weight and very good noise reduction.
But something happened with the black coat of earsets and battery holder that became sticky, I had to remove it with alcohol.
the ear cushions are destroyed by time because they have less than 200 hours of use

Hello Mario, thank you for your comment. When this headset was manufactured we used a comfortable and popular soft-touch paint on specific parts. Unfortunately, we learned over time that the paint deteriorates into a sticky substance under certain conditions. Since learning this we have discontinued the use of this soft-touch paint on all of our headsets and replaced it with a more durable finish. Your solution with using alcohol is a good remedy.

My wallet and ears thank me!! I finally bit the bullet and decided to treat myself to an ANR headset. Lightspeed was the obvious choice for me as I didn’t feel the need to pay big bucks just for a big brand name on the side of my head. Since I was a pilot on a budget I decided to go with the Sierra headset. My mind was blown during my first flight with the ANR. The cockpit was suddenly quiet and I could hear all transmissions without having to turn the volume up super loud. I feel like a safer pilot now that I don’t have to struggle to hear some of the garbled or soft transmissions from other aircraft or ATC. I’ve taken several cross countries with this headset and it never hurts my head or gets annoying to wear during hours of flying. If you’re looking for a quality headset with great ANR and isn’t going to break the bank , the Sierra is the way to go!

I have an old set of DC’s and always loved them BUT the new Sierra ANR headset is so much better for cockpit noise. I purchased in November 2021 from sporty’s and the only thing that has taken time to adjust to is the mic. Unless you have it against your lips it doesn’t pick up your voice.
Lightspeed Aviation –
Thank you, Jim, and we’re sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your mic. Our mics are very sensitive and can be adjusted to suit various voices and situations. You can adjust the mic gain on any Lightspeed headset. To increase or decrease mic gain sensitivity, you can the turn the mic gain adjustment on the mic which looks like a little screw. Also, if the mic has been turned around it can pick up ambient sound or have difficulty picking up your voice. Please reach out to us at 1-800-332-2421 and our team will be happy to walk you through this.

I bought this headset when I started flight training at a 141 program. They are comfortable, and are great with ANR. You can really tell a difference when turning the noise reduction off and on. They are heavier but I don’t notice it anymore afterwards a couple hours of use. Only downside for me is the carrying case, compared to the Bose A20’s the case is bulky and hard to pack up after use.

The Sierra headset works great. It’s very light and the clarity is outstanding. I have logged a few hundred hours in these and would recommend. They seem to be holding up well with about one year of use. I use them in both a Cessna for GA and for work in Bell 407 with a GA to helicopter connector. No issues with either.
